Proximity alerts
Walk past a restaurant that takes your card, get a ping. No need to open the app first. Here's how to get it going.
Once alerts are on, Takhfif quietly watches your location. Get within about 150 metres of any place with an active discount deal and you'll get a notification.
It waits about 10 seconds before firing, so a quick drive-by won't set it off.
On the Near Me page, switch the cards filter to Mine and alerts will only fire for places that have a deal on one of your cards. No pings for discounts you can't use.
For alerts when your phone is locked or you're in another app, you need to install Takhfif to your home screen first. It's free and takes about 30 seconds.
Android
Works in Chrome, Samsung Internet, and Edge.
Open Takhfif in Chrome
Go to takhfif.app. Samsung Internet or Edge works too.
Add it to your home screen
Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner and tap Add to Home screen. Confirm and you're done.
Always open from the home screen icon
That icon is how background alerts reach you. Opening from the browser doesn't do it.
Turn on proximity alerts
Go to Near Me, flip the toggle. Tap Allow when it asks for location and notification access.
Add your cards
Go to My Cards and add your cards. The notification will then tell you exactly which card to use.
iPhone
Has to be Safari. Chrome on iPhone can't send notifications, it's an Apple thing.
Open Takhfif in Safari
Tap the Safari icon and go to takhfif.app. Chrome and Firefox won't work for this.
Tap Share, then "Add to Home Screen"
Tap the share icon (the box with an arrow) at the bottom of Safari, scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen, then tap Add.
Always open from that icon
Opening from inside Safari won't trigger background alerts. Use the home screen icon.
Turn on proximity alerts
Go to Near Me and flip the toggle. Tap Allow when it asks for location and notifications. If location gets blocked, go to Settings, Privacy, Location Services, Safari Websites and set it to While Using. Takhfif doesn't appear separately in Location Services on iPhone, it goes through Safari.
Add your cards
Go to My Cards and add your cards. The notification will then tell you exactly which card to use.
Something not working?
I turned it on but nothing happens
Make sure you're opening Takhfif from the home-screen icon, not from inside a browser. That's the most common one.
It says notifications are blocked
On Android: Settings, Apps, Takhfif, Notifications, set to Allow. On iPhone: Settings, Notifications, Takhfif, Allow Notifications.
Location isn't working
On Android: Settings, Apps, Takhfif, Permissions, Location, set to Allow all the time. On iPhone: Takhfif won't appear in Location Services by name. Go to Settings, Privacy, Location Services, Safari Websites, and set it to While Using the App.
I'm not near any deals
Takhfif has deals mapped in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and other major cities. Also check that you've added your cards under My Cards.
